| About Halley's Lodge | ||
Halleys Lodge has been an institution at Falls Creek since its inception. Built in December 1966 by the Spargo family, who to this day remain on the mountain, as owners of the Falls Creek Hotel. The building was first used for traditional European lodge style accommodation and, in 1969; the property was further developed to house the ski hire, ski boutique and a restaurant. The convenience of the location of Halleys Lodge at the base of the Village close to the Falls Express Chair, is supported by the recent nearby construction of the prestige, “St Falls” development, built and promoted based on its prime position, at the base of the Falls Express lift. In the summer of 2008/2009 Snowman Property Management Pty Ltd purchased the lease of the Halleys Lodge with the aim of converting the building into comfortable, clean and affordable bunk style accommodation for larger self interest groups and predominantly secondary students. The model has been proven since 2005 at Snowbird Inn Mt Hotham, when Snowman Property Management commenced its lease there. Since then the excellent tour organisation service provided, along with the convenient location, helpful staff, terrific meals and clean, comfortable accommodation has led 140 groups at Mt Hotham and 40 in Falls Creek in its inaugural year. Over 95 per cent of those groups returning this year. Halleys Lodge rooms have been converted to simple bunk style accommodation not dissimilar to a traditional school camp. There are 20 rooms ranging from 4 to 10 share spread through 3 levels of the building. Each room has its own private ensuite and most have exceptional views of the Falls Creek Village and the surrounding Victorian Alps. Bedding configurations differ from room to room and consist of single bunk beds only in some rooms, and a combination of single bunks and split queen or king beds catering for family groups. Each room has central heating. To keep the accommodation tariffs to a minimum Halleys offers the option of BYO linen. As standard Halleys offers mattress protector, fitted sheet, pillow, pillowslip and bathmat. If guests bring their own Doona and Doona Cover or Sleeping Bag and bath towel significant savings can be made. Please ask your consultant when booking. Other Guest Facilities in Halleys Lodge include: * The Halleys Lodge Bistro comfortably offers seating for up to 65 in-house guests per sitting with traditional home cooked two course evening meals including main course and dessert and hearty cooked skiers breakfast.
